I've been working so hard on tattoos for everyone else that I decided to do a little something for myself. This is a design that I've wanted to draw out for years now, and I'm so glad that I've finally sat down and done it. Can't wait to get this done once I've scraped together the cash.

My background is Dutch; all four of my grandparents moved to Canada after WWII, and after spending 4 months living there myself, I feel like I've become closer to my roots. Ever since I was a little kid I remember looking at my mom's delft blue ceramics and marveling at the beauty of the designs.

I need to fav this, being half Dutch and raised in a Dutch home environment with strong (and large!) family values. This brings me right back to home made split pea and hand soup, and all the spiced gouda I could eat. I bet you'd get a real kick out of my Oma's farm out of my home town. The blue ceramic work on plates, bowls, and cheese slicer handles (I got me one of them!) is really incredible.

This is a tattoo that my mother might even approve of. But I am sure she'd rather see it on a plate.
