I'm not dead....yet

Thu Jun 26, 2008, 9:03 AM
So sorry for not being around recently everyone. i haven't logged onto my deviantart in...well, let's face it... too long, if i'm going by the INCREADIBLE amount comments, messages and favourites that have accumulated while i've been gone. A heart-felt apology for not replying right away, but life has been overly hectic and busy. I'm in the midst of moving right now, graduated from OCAD (finally), and doing the summer training/store opens that i usually do. getting some travelling in, and just trying to make some life transitions. add that to working on my new website, working at my "real" job 50hrs a week, and perhaps even having a life every now and then (sleep? who needs sleep?) and i hope this explains why i've been ignoring my deviantart duties lately.

BUT, all this will soon change. as of july 1, i will have moved to my new place, will have my life in some sort of organized state, and yes, i'm pretty sure i will be able to visit deviantart on a more regular basis.

until then, thank you EVERYONE for all your wonderful comments; they are very much appreciated!

it's 2008!!!

Sat Feb 2, 2008, 10:21 AM
so yes, it is actually 2008. well, it has been for a month now, but i've been so busy i haven't had the chance to post a new journal between now and then. ANYWAY, i did some hard work over january; openned a new resturaunt and trained all the new employees. (for those who didn't know, i'm a kitchen supervisor and corporate trainer for Moxies Classic Grill, which, on top of finishing my last semester at OCAD and getting my design business off the ground, is a lot). Anyway, i'm back home now and trying to get some more art stuff done.

so yeah, happy 2008 everyone; i want to thank everybody who's left me comments and added me to their watch lists in the past year! The traffic through my gallery has been steadily picking up and i have only you guys to thank for it. you're awesome.

wet moon-in-ation

Thu Dec 13, 2007, 12:00 AM
it finally came today!!! it's like christmas came early or something. i had almost given up hope after pre-odering it, like, 2 months ago. i thought i might have to mission it out to my local comic book store to find it, but it came it came it came!!!!!!
Ross Campbell, you never cease to impress me. the third installment of Wet Moon was marvelous. when i openned up the box, i was like "whoa, it's BIG this time" and yet i still ended up reading through it in under two hours and craving more More MORE!!! i've been once again inspired to do a fan art of your characters.... it'd be my thrird...

oh, i also saw the golden compass
the Golden Compass yesterday night. I had been waiting for this movie for over two years, when i heard rumours of it's conception. I think His Dark Materials is one of my favourite series and Phillip Pullman is the MAN when it comes to good story telling. so i was naturally intrigued and more than a little excited to heard about the movie. after waiting all that time, i finally saw it last night. it was pretty good, all things considered. I mean, it's always hard to make a movie out of a book, especially one as full of character developement and details as this series is. obviously they would've had to cut a lot out. I was impressed with the cast selection, actually. i felt most of the characters pretty much reflected my expectations for suited casting. they did a pretty stand-up job, i thought. but the movie just moved so FAST.... and they cut out the whole end of the book. and it was so TAME compared to the books. *SPOILER ALERT*
-----------------
the scene with Iorek's fight for King was pretty sweet, though. and i TOTALLY didn't see the final blow coming. i figured they weren't gonna show any gore, since that's how the rest of the movie was... but DUDE, when Iorek batted the King's jaw clear off his face, i was like "no way!" and then he goes for the dude's throat and just breaks his neck...brutal. not as brutal as if they had shown blood, though. i mean, Iorek got RIGHT in there, where the blood should have been GUSHING out (ripping off a jaw tends to leave some blood, i'd say), and yet there was not a fleck of blood anywhere on the white of the King, Iorek, OR the snow all around them. oh well
-------------------------------

so anyway, i'd say they did an over-all decent job with it... it could have been much worse, i suppose. and i actually want to see the next one, if they make it.

i also finished my semester today. had my final crit and let me tell you, was i ever ready for it all to be over. i have one last semester left and then i'm seriously on my own in the big world. gotta look for a new place to live... hopefully a new job that perhaps has a little more creativity than the one i have now. but before all that.... VANCOUVER! i'm heading out on a month-long exploration of Vancouver BC in May. i'm vastly excited; it'll give me some time to see old friends and really kick my life out of "school" mode. I've been at OCAD for 5 years now.... i don't know if i understand how to live a life without school...

moving on up....

Hey guys, it's time for the bi-monthly update.
Bare with me; it's late and i worked hard today.

So i decided it was time to do some spring cleaning again. thought i should go through all of my deviations and get rid of the more embarrassing pieces. Gotta love that "gallery Activity" option... you know, where you check and see all the deviations that NO ONE'S been checking out. *groan*
soooo, i got rid of it all. and now that i'm a new subscriber to this illustrious website (no more freeloading for me!), the gallery stats are even all illustrated in bar graph form. that's right guys, thanks for spelling it out for me.
i've made a pact with myself to stop posting shitty stuff. or if i do post shitty stuff, to put it in my scraps where they belong. BANNISHED!!!
oh the shame.

Getting jazzed about finishing off my last couple credits at OCAD. I've been feeling pretty productive these past few weeks, so hopefully that will reflect in my submissions here. OH!!!!!! we will rock you !!!!!!
going to go see We Will Rock You, that musical of Queen music. WAY EXCITED!!! expensive tickets, but i'm a long-time Queen fan so i think i'm justified in dropping the duckets on it.

EVERYONE LISTEN! Guitar Hero 3 comes out this weekend so you'd better get your virtual guitars tuned up for the ride of your life. the song list this time around is PRIMO.

Other than that, just keeping my head down and barreling through life at high speed.

hoping to make journal posting more frequent...

duck and run!!!

well everyone, it's been a long and busy summer for me so far. paying back student loans is a bitch, i can tell you that much. i've been busy doing design work and building my business on top of my "day job" so i haven't had a lot of time to work on personal art. which is a shame, since i miss it so much. i'm probably going to be updating some time in the next week or so. i've been away for the month of july on a business-related journey and have returned to an ass-load of new email, messages on facebook, and more comments on my deviantart than i can shake a stick at.

so if i don't happen to reply to everyone's comments right away, i apologise in advance but would also let you know that i do read them all and that i appreciate every single person who takes the time to drop me a line or two or 18. you guys are awesome.

i finally got my website up and running after a whole lot of drama. [link]
it's still in the infant stages; many changes will be made, but at least we now have something up.

well, that's about all the time i have for right now. once again, look for my update coming soon!
